They made a crank call to a Hospital .That in itself is bad enough. They impersonated family members and got personal information about a patient , and then broardcast it on national radio without permission.Charge EVERYBODY that allowed this to happen.

At first, I took a hard line against the the 2 DJ's who made the prank call. But since one of the nurse's suicide notes actually blamed them for her death, it is clear to me that this nurse had issues that had nothing to do with them. It is a very manipulative, passive aggressive act to blame them f see more... or her suicide in this instance. What a spiteful thing to do to try and make them suffer forever.

Those DJ's should be FIRED! Are they sleeping with the station owner to merely get a suspension and hope everything blows over. This was a cruel joke that is not funny, and now legislation will be introduced to stop idiots like this from going too far. Shed a few tears on the news and appologize? So now we learn before you can broadcast, the law (in Australia) requires the consent of the ‘victim’ of a prank call to give their consent. And they didn’t. Sounds like the end of 2Day FM (thank god) and hopefully a sole searching rethink by all on the tremendous harm prank calls can cause.

" Practical jokes" are almost always not funny to the people that are the brunt of them. Their defence is "we didn`t know it might lead to this " . So they didn`t mean to kill them , they just meant them to look like fools. Well done

I genuinely believe that its now time to stop blaming the djs for everything. Yes it is tragic whats happened, but surely a silly prank does not justify suicide no matter how a lot of people try to make it sound like it does. I am sure the djs feel really bad about what has happened and its time to see more... stop making them feel suicidal as well.

Those blaming the radio station and the two radio people who put in this prank call to the Hospital in London should learn more about suicide and what causes it. Suicide is cause by a number of things and I cannot see that one prank call was enough to push this nurse over the edge. Another factor is see more... that the nurse who committed suicide had very little to do with the prank call which she took while working on the hospital switchboard and then she passed it onto the nurse who was in charge of looking after Kate Middleton. Therefore the nurse's suicide would have came about by other factors that had built up over a period of time such as stress either with her job or home or perhaps both. It is reasonable to say that this nurse may have concealed ongoing problems and stress from her work colleagues that they failed to pick up on . It is also reasonable to say that this nurse did not commit suicide just because of one prank phone call and there were other underlying factors and triggers that caused this nurse to take her life.

Dec. 9, 2012, 9:18 p.m. GMT

Guest

I don't believe that these two young radio people are entirely responsible for the nurses death. As i have a certificate in mental health,i believe that there were more underlying factors, such as stress and possibly even the management at the hospital would have servely chastised both these nurses. see more... The nurse that took the call on the switchboard passed it onto the nurse that was on duty caring for Kate Middleton,so I can see no real reason that the prank call would have contributed to this nurse committing suicide, simply because she had very little to do with the prank call, she only answered the call on the switchboard and then pased the call onto the nurse that was caring for Kate Middleton. Suicide just does not happen ,it is a combination of things that triggers it off and I am certain to say that this nurses suicide had very little to do with this prank call from the radio station. It is unfortunate, but the real problems and the real cause for this nurse's death lies not with the Radio Station or either one of these two radio people who pulled the prank call.

The management of the hospital would have crucified this poor nurse and pushed her to the limit.. It was a prank that went tragically wrong. Stop blaming the radio station and focus your hatred where it should be. Think outside the square and look at what would have happened at ‘YOUR’ workplace. Man see more... agement would have looked for a scapegoat to cover their arses. It’s the hospital administration disciplinary system that would of pushed this Nurse to the edge. The faceless administration managers will again walk away with blood on their hands... ‘Pathetic"’

While I think it may be hard to prove criminal misconduct, it definitely was a factor in the death of the nurse and lawsuits will follow. Although the hospital said she wasn't disciplined or reprimanded, it is likely she was under enormous pressure especially with the Royal family being involved. I see more... f you want to voice your discontent...hit them where it counts...complain to their advertisers. Anyone got a list?

Funny how they were very keen to tell the whole world how clever their prank was - and its their 'courting International publicity' which has brought so much pressure on poor innocent people. Now its all gone horribly wrong - and they go into hiding! Sadly the immense pressure and distress this has see more... caused has led to one person taking their own life, two children without their mother in the weeks before Christmas. What about all the others hurt by this? What a lovely start to a young couples first pregnancy. The DJs must have broken the law by delibeately falsely even attempting to obtain personal medical information. Why have they not been sacked? Why has the CEO of the Radio station not resigned? I wonder how the people who fund the radio station feel about their reputation and their ratings, and the fact they are now paying for the two people who caused all this to stay in hiding in a posh hotel! Something is seriously wrong with all this. In life all actions have consequeces.

A nurse at a London hospital who took a hoax call about the Duchess of Cambridge has been found dead. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said in a statement they were "deeply saddened" by the death of the nurse, named as Jacintha Saldanha. King Edward VII hospital paid tribute to "a first class see more... nurse who cared diligently for hundreds of patients". Details of the pregnant duchess's medical condition were unwittingly revealed to two Australian DJs. Mel Greig and Michael Christian, from Sydney radio station 2Day FM posed as the Queen and Prince Charles in a call early on Tuesday morning. Rhys Holleran, chief executive of SCA, the company which owns the station, said in a statement the pair will not return to their show until further notice out of respect for Mrs Saldanha. The duchess had been admitted on Monday for acute morning sickness, and was discharged on Thursday. BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt said he understood Mrs Saldanha - who was staying in hospital accommodation close to King Edward VII hospital - was the person who answered the call from the Australian DJs and was not the nurse who discussed the duchess's medical condition. Mrs Saldanha, a duty nurse who was married with two children, answered the telephone because it was 05:30 GMT and there was no receptionist on duty. The St James's Palace statement said the duke and duchess "were looked after so wonderfully well at all times by everybody at King Edward VII Hospital, and their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha's family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time". A palace spokesman later added that "at no point did the palace complain to the hospital about the incident". "On the contrary, we offered our full and heartfelt support to the nurses involved and hospital staff at all times." In a statement outside the hospital, King Edward VII chief executive John Lofthouse said: "We can confirm that Jacintha was recently the victim of a hoax call to the hospital. "The hospital had been supporting her throughout this difficult time." He said Mrs Saldanha, who had worked at the hospital for more than four years, "was an excellent nurse and well-respected and popular with all of her colleagues". "Everyone is shocked by the loss of a much loved and valued colleague," he added. Pranks are one thing, inflicting them on a HOSPITAL is beyond comprehension. This despicable act has crossed the rubicon and is to be totally condemned. The anal retards who perpetrated this disgusting act deserve everything they get!!Write something on this wall!

What these morons consider entertainment is in effect bullying. They targeted not the royals but a tired decent nurse with their infantile prank and giggling manner. I hope they are already sacked by their employers

All this for ratings??.....I hope that everyone involved in this, from senior management to the perpetrators are held accountable. We live in a world where increasingly people are not held accountable for their actions. It is easy to hide half a world away with immunity to any action. I hope the adv see more... ertisers and sponsors of this station do the right thing and walk away with their $$.

Perhaps those who played this silly trick will actually engage their brains in future. Hopefully they will lose their jobs. Maybe they and the radio station should be prosecuted. Yes please do feel guilt - and lots of it. Those who did it and those who condoned it. Best regards. Not.

You know how kids are sometimes fooling around and you keep telling them, stop doing that and behave ? And the kids disregard the advice and keep misbehaving. Well it's all OK until someone gets poked in the eye with a stick. There are more people to blame than just these two jerks. The management see more... of the station who encouraged the behavior and the listeners who laughed and encouraged the jerks. You should be ashamed.

2 children now don't have a mum. Thanks to you. A guy has lost his partner. Thanks to you. A mother and father have lost their child. Thanks to you. A life has been thrown away. Thanks to you. You are barely human and should be utterly ashamed of yourselves, and, just a suggestion; go somewhere see more... where you don't have to associate with human beings. Permanently. Please.
