KBCS is a non-commercial, listener-supported source for local, national, and international music and information that draws from and reflects the diversity of our region. Operated as a public service by Bellevue College, KBCS trains and provides opportunities for community members to participate in all aspects of radio. The KBCS News and Public Affairs Mission The mission of the KBCS News and Public Affairs Department is to present information of significant issues facing society, thereby contributing to the development of an informed community both culturally and politically. We place an emphasis on providing information and creating forums for challenging the cultural and intellectual assumptions of our listeners. KBCS trains community members in radio skills and independent journalism to foster a widespread critical understanding of the media.
