KBRC was the first radio station in the region, signing on in 1946. KBRC is committed to local and regional news with hourly news, weather and sports. The news department works hand in hand with local and regional agencies to provide immediate and comprehensive news coverage. KBRC is also the Skagit County EAS station. KBRC airs ABC national and worldwide news and has won numerous awards for local news coverage, including the 1993 “Best Overall Cooperation” award from Associated Press. KBRC broadcasts a high school game of the week for football and basketball. KBRC is the exclusive station in Skagit County, Whidbey Island/Oak Harbor, and the San Juan Islands for Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and University of Washington Huskies and football. KBRC staff members are actively involved in service organizations such as Chamber of Commerce and other business groups. Staff members are commitee members, volunteers, and serve as Board of Directors.
