History of KMRS/KKOK KMRS began broadcasting on September 16, 1956 - by station owner Clifford & Florence Hedberg. KMRS was and still is a "live" local news, information, weather, and sports station. In 1961 KMRS which had formally been only a daytime station became a full time station. KMRS covers local news with a full time news director and is affiliated with ABC, MN News Network and the Linder Farm Network. At one time KMRS broadcast 24 hours.
