Doubt the last guy ever listened. Randi Rhodes was only one of several hosts. The station gave liberal Oregon a single outlet to hear our own veiws represented. Nothing but Rush Limbaugh and Rush Limbaugh light anymore. Am buying some CDs and hoping someone with money will invest in this venue. see more... There is a helluva a void there.

I found a new station run out of Portland, Oregon today that is pretty good, so far. I do not think ANYTHING will replace the ultimate & beloved KPOJ, but this is giving a good run for the money. I am not sure the station's name, but it is found at: 91.5.

What a joke that they are called the peoples' airwaves. That's just BS. Clearchannel has bought up all the stations in the country and is in the process of utilizing them all so no one from the left can be heard. They don't care if they make a profit. It's all about silencing democrats. The rig see more... ht wing can't win unless they cheat. I would like to know what the NW representatives are doing to ensure the PUBLIC airwaves are uses for the purpose they were intended? To serve the PUBLIC interest, not to be filledwith whatever nonsense they can think of down at Clear Channel so that no one else can use them.

LOL whining about complaining to the FCC? How about Malloy saying "teabaggers" should be beheaded? Think THAT gets advertisers? Think all the moms driving their kids around want them exposed to that filth? Meanwhile you Liberals aren't worth advertiser dollars THAT;S why "progressive" radio is dead. see more... Advertisers know Conservatives have actual MONEY to BUY things. Most of them don't take food stamps.

The Portland Or area does not need another FOX sports show -- Ed, Thom and Randy are needed for their common sense and factual info for liberals. Clear Channel is responsible for shutting down progressive talk radio in a few States now and replacing it with lowest ratings sports programming. It's a propaganda tactic. Like most RepubliCan'ts the owners of KPOJ were dismayed that Obama won re-election in a near landslide. Try Portland's KBOO 90.7 FM for Democracy Now, an Independently Syndicated program the Mogals are not likely to shut down. It is as independant as NPR but with some music, too. I do not believe there was not enough demand to hear the only honest new available on the AM 620. There is to much to do about nothing with Fox Sports. Give us back our radio station. Post the Petition online@MSNBC with Ed Schultz all us Ed Heads can help.

Nov. 20, 2012, 9:09 p.m. GMT

Guest

Guest

Those of us who are disappointed and dismayed by KPOJ's decision to eliminate progressive talk radio and replace it with sports programming need to circulate a petition to be submitted to the FCC. This is wrong. There needs to be some liberal voices on the air to counterbalance the overwhelming numb see more... er of right wing talk radio. Stations license public airwaves from the FCC and have a community responsibility to provide an element of fairness and balance into the conversation. If all we're left with are the Limbaugh's and Hannity's, who speaks for us? Are we to become a one-ideology nation represented by the right wing? This needs to be protested.

Although we have lost Progrssive Talk on KPOJ, we can hope another will someday pick up the reins. In the meantime, we have MSNBC TV and we have Progressive Internet Programming until we are, again, blessed with a progresive-thinking radio channel. It is GREAT there are so many of us "listening".

The only real enemy of TRUTH is silence. Now that progressive talk radio KPOJ has silenced our favorite progressive talk show hosts and substituted in it's place ANOTHER sports talk- like we really needed another vomitus sports talk program, truth in broadcasting is hard to find. When will you eli see more... minate the remaining crumbs NPR, PBS, Democracy Now, and KBOO? Sadly, they try but can't even come close to the research quality that made KPOJ's Rachel Maddow a true gem, or Tom Hartman's historical insights the list is too lengthy to mention here. I looked forward to KPOJ every day- I can't believe that just three days after Obama got re-elected their (KPOJ) voice was suddenly SILENCED. Was this a Republican act of revenge??

The last type of radio station this area needs is another sports channel. I, with thousands of others (NOT 79!) enjoyed listening to the truth and having a place to voice my opinion. I cannot boycott advertisers, because I refuse to listen to a sports talk radio station. I will not know who the adve see more... rtisers are. Bring KPOJ progressive talk back to the Portland area!

Nov. 19, 2012, 12:18 a.m. GMT

I am sure that the switch to sports will outrage the 79 listeners of progressive radio in Oregon. But, there is a reason for the switch. It is called customer demand. There is no real demand for progressive programming. Why do you think MSNBC has such dreadful rations and left leaning radio companie see more... s continue to go out of business?

What is wrong with this picture, no voice to listen for progressive issues? Well, I'm done with 620 AM Radio now, NPR is the only station left & they go into alot of little side stories that are actually often boring. Where can we go to listen to Carl Wolfson, Tom Hartman Ed Schultz & Randy Rhodes? see more... Also, on the weekends, I liked listening to Jessie Jackson Keeping Hope Alive. I hear 620 Am Kpoj is now owned by Fox - Bain there all the same, owned by Republicans. If I were wealthy I'd do something about this because it has cut off all intelligent dialog as far as I'm concerned. So, 620 AM you just lost a life long listener. Hope your happy & hope your ratings suck !!!!

This is about denying the public any information that does not conform to the right-wing 1% dictators. Keep the people dumb (sports talk) or terrified (conservative talk), and they're much easier to manipulate. So now Portland, a liberal city with exactly one and a half pro sports teams, has three a see more... ll-sports stations and three all-conservative talk stations on the AM dial. F-ing ridiculous.

WHY DID YOU DO SUCH A NUTTY THING? I WAHT MY TALK PEOPLE BACK SO I CAN LEARN SOMETHING. I don't want sports, I want my Progressive Radio as I've listened to day and night for over five years. I couldn't figure out what was wrong over the weekend, and I could not find anything and then the sports cha see more... tter that is there no matter whether there's a game or not. I prefer to learn what's going on in my world politically so as to be involved. How awful to take this away. NO ONE signed off with a goodbye late Friday night; just GONE, and I'm very angry because they Ihave nothing with which to replace it. Portland now is a very conservative radio mess that I have no interest in because I don't trust one of them. What happens to Carl when he lives here? That's a raw deal!! Where does he go? He was one of the best. I personally think this stinks, and I cannot afford anything that has all those programs lined up like they were even if the are all together. Those broadcasters have been hurt financially and without warning. Ed Schultz was able to explain in a couple of sentences on his TV station or I'd still be lost. I won't be listening to sports. I'm turning off KPOJ, but I will never forget how great it was. Educating us is what we should be doing. Sports are everywhere as are lying conservative broadcasts (usually I have learned sadly). So Wait do we do now?
