KUBA - FM 95.5 - Yuba City, CA

On January 24th 1947 the FCC granted permits for a new Yuba City California AM radio station at 500 watts on 1600 kilocycles and with the call letters KUBA. KUBA went on the air January 10th 1948 as a non-network independent radio station. Power was raised to 1,000 watts in ... See more 1949 with the installation of a new 2-tower directional antenna system. In 1950 the studios were moved to the Hotel Marysville where we remained through the 1950's with power increasing to 5,000 watts in February of 1961. In 1963 the studio was moved again to an office building on 4th street in Marysville where we were until the early 1970's when we moved back to our original transmitting site at 1479 Sanborn Road in Yuba City- Our permanent home. In January of 1983 KUBA was purchased by the Harlan Family and remained in the Harlan Family until the summer of 2004 when we merged with Nevada County Broadcasters to increase our coverage into the Nevada City, Grass Valley area. In early 2008, KUBA was allowed to broadcast it's programming on FM 95.5. KUBA was one of the first AM radio stations in the country to qualify to add an FM signal under a new Federal Communications Commission ruling. In 2008 KUBA celebrated it's 60th Birthday! AM 1600 & FM 95.5 KUBA has gone through a few format changes from country music in 1999 to "America's Best Music" to what we are today "Classic Hits of the 60's and 70's" plus news and information you need to know about. In the latest chapter of KUBA's life, KUBA was acquired by Results Radio LLC on September 1, 2010. Results Radio now operates three stations out of Yuba City...KUBA, KMJE (Sunny 101.5) and KKCY (Country 103.1). KUBA's history is representative of Yuba-Sutter history as we have grown with the area and look forward to the future along with the people that make this a great place to live work and play.
