The net activates whenever a hurricane is affecting land in the Atlantic basin and has a means to provide surface damage and meteorological reports to WX4NHC, the Amateur Radio station at the National Hurricane Center at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, United States. The net's main mssion is to help save lives, improve hurricane forecasting with the meteorological and damage reports received and to provide other agencies situational awareness and disaster intelligence information from areas impacted by hurricanes in the Atlantic basin.
