What a disappointment, talking about a football player's unwillingness to discuss his views on the up coming Super Bowl. I was hoping to talk to something more relevant concerning the Kansas citizen. I am specifically talking about the "Constitutional Carry" bill. I have written to the 26 state s see more... enators that have sponsored this bill and Governor Brownback as well as three newspapers. I am opposed to the bill because it doesn't require any kind of training. As I told the governor, If someone is going to argue in support of the 2nd amendment, they should use all of the 2nd amendment and not just the part that suits their cause. The first part of the 2nd amendment is an integral part because it calls for a "well regulated militia", not just as armed militia. Hunter's Safety is required to obtain a hunting license. I would say carrying a concealed firearm in public is a bit more serious because the potential for having to use that firearm in an environment that may or may not contain large numbers of people, is a bit more severe than using a firearm in a wooded environment where there is likely little contact with other humans. There must be a training requirement. This in no way infringes on the rights of the 2nd amendment. We have a duty of care to our fellow citizens. Unfortunately, not all citizens will seek out the training they need to make them responsible carriers of concealed handguns. In this case, the government has a duty to ensure the safety of all citizens by requiring proper training.
