avey D In the Place to Be was born in 1973 on the island of O`ahu at Castle Hospital. Raised in the backroads of Waimanalo he attended Waimanalo Elementary & Intermediate School and later went on to Kailua High School. Upon graduation from Kailua Davey enrolled at Kapiolani Community College ... See more where he took a few classes. A year later he transferred to the University of Hawaii at Manoa. While attending U.H. he also worked at the Waimanalo Health Center to pay the bills. Davey D enterted the entertainment biz by accident in 1992. He was the project coordinator for a health fair being put on by the Waimanalo Health Center. When searching for an emcee one of the ladies in the office, Jenny, recommended that he call Randy Hudnall from KCCN FM100. He did and Randy graciously agreed to host the event. Davey took advantage of the situation and asked Randy if he could go to the radio station to see how it worked "behind the scenes." Again Randy graciously agreed and made Davey one of his interns. Three months later Davey was on the air...and the rest as they say is history. In 1993 Davey met his soulmate...Kandice Wong. Although the pair went to rival schools (Kandice went to Castle) they hit it off. After six years of courtship they married and had a baby girl...Daisy. Today the "D" `ohana resides in Kane`ohe. Although Davey D no longer lives in Waimanalo it will always remain his home. Every Sunday he and his family make the short journey from Kane`ohe to Waimanalo to attend Sunday services to worship his Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. In 2001 Davey D made the leap from radio guy to radio & tv guy. July of 2001 is when the Overdrive Live hit the airwaves on OC16. Our first videos featured the `Opihi Pickers, Keahiwai & Damon Williams. Today, after four years on the air, Overdrive Live has welcomed the likes of Fiji, Koauka, Natural Vibrations, Sean Na`auao, Amy Hanaiali`i, Willie K, Na Leo Pilimehana, `Ekolu, Nuff Sedd, B.E.T., Kekai Boyz, Native Blend, and the list continues to grow. That pretty much sums up the story of Davey D. Before we wrap up here are a couple more facts about Davey D In The Place To Be:
