"Eagle Commercial Free Flights" would span 100 minutes with great Classic Hits. Classic Hits. A new radio format, developed in Amarillo over many long nights and endless cups of coffee. Classic Hits would offer music the way you grew up listening...with variety. Jim Croce, Led Zepplin, and The Beatles would co-exist all together, just like in thousands of record collections across the Panhandle. Amarillo listeners would pick the songs....not someone in a corporate office several states away. If you ever get a call to come rate some records for us, please come! The DJ's would have to be special. We asked people, who they wanted in the morning . We even gave them some names to consider. Time and time again, the answer was the same: Jamey Karr & Morgan Tanner. We told them our plans for The Eagle. Fewer commercials; more music, and big fun contests. It took several expensive dinners, and it worked!! On January 2, 2003, Jamey & Morgan, hit the airwaves and quickly became the # 1 morning show in town. Later that May, Amarillo radio legend Mike Shannon joined The Eagle for the afternoon drive home. The Eagle had its anchors and we set our sights on someone new for the evenings. Amy Hart was a student at Amarillo College and we were blown away by her knowledge of music and the best laugh we'd ever heard. In August, Amy took over nights and become the most popular evening host in town! Who has made The Eagle the # 1 station in Amarillo? YOU did. YOU told us what to play. YOU told us who you wanted to hear and what you wanted to win. We listened to you and we still do! Thank YOU for making a new radio such a success so quickly.
