The Pink Channel, produced by Premiere Radio Networks for broadcast on XM Satellite Radio channel 24, is the world’s first channel for the cure of ... See more all cancers that affect women—supporting life-saving research and treatment at City of Hope. Why here? Why now? With one in three women diagnosed with cancer, there is no time like the present to utilize a national radio platform and website to bring the most up-to-date information on cancer prevention, research and treatment to women everywhere. Though there are many fine cancer research and treatment institutions, we have chosen to partner with and support City of Hope for several key reasons: • City of Hope speeds the path from lab discoveries to treatment. As an independent medical and research institution, City of Hope can break through the barriers that traditionally stand between scientists and physicians, accelerating the application of laboratory findings to generate more effective treatments. This has led to breakthrough cancer drugs such as Herceptin, Rituxan, Avastin and Erbitux which are saving lives worldwide. City of Hope works with urgency because time matters. Patients with cancer need better options today, not next week or next year. • City of Hope has a patient-centered philosophy. City of Hope is helping set the standard in “whole patient” care— caring for the emotional, spiritual, as well as physical well-being of patients and their families—as evidenced by the guiding philosophy set forth by one of City of Hope’s early leaders, Samuel H. Golter: “There is no profit in curing the body, if in the process, we destroy the soul.” • City of Hope aggressively researches new potential treatments. At any given time, City of Hope conducts more than 300 clinical trials, involving 30 to 40 percent of its eligible patients—six to eight times the national average. • City of Hope is one of only 41 Comprehensive Cancer Centers. As a division of the National Institutes of Health, the NCI is the Federal Government's principal agency for cancer research and training. The NCI's Cancer Center program acknowledges institutions for their scientific excellence, as well as their ability to bring diverse research approaches to the problem of cancer. The "Comprehensive Cancer Center" designation, the highest bestowed by the NCI, indicates that City of Hope has undergone a rigorous review process and has met or exceeded NCI standards in these areas. For many people, City of Hope is where hope begins. The Pink Channel is proud to partner with this extraordinary institution and support City of Hope's deep and historical commitment to healing, and the recognition that cancer affects not only the patient, but also family and friends. The Pink Channel donates: • 100% of your contributions made online at whodoyoupinkfor.com • 10% of the retail price of all merchandise purchased at our PINK SHOP • A percentage of all advertising and sponsorship revenue generated by The Pink Channel on XM 24 and on The Pink Channel website
