WVMM is a 100-watt, non-commercial radio station. The studios are located on the first floor of Larson Student Union. The transmitter is located next to the water tower, behind Kelly Residence. The money for WVMM comes from the Student Government Association (SGA) and through the College's Academic budget. The station's ... See more primary purpose is to serve as an educational tool. It is both a place for students to gain experience in radio, and an outlet for instructional radio programming. The radio station falls under the jurisdiction of the Communications Department, Provost's Office and College Board of Trustees. The station reaches the community surrounding the Messiah College campus and provides a variety of programming choices, which revolves around the primary format of College Rock and Indie Rock music. Messiah College had a radio station from 1970-1983. On October 6, 1989, WVMM was resumed, this time as an over-the-air FM radio station. Prior to that, it was heard only on campus.
