Barry Sheffield has been a New York City Metro area veteran broadcaster and programming pro since 1970. Currently, he is Assistant Director of Telecommunications at the Metropolitan Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University. In that capacity he is the Program Director / Operations Manager of WFDU-FM. Barry can also teach a thing or two - having been a professor of radio and TV broadcasting, public speaking and drama for 15 years. As a 1974 FDU graduate, Barry takes particular pride in guiding the radio station he helped establish in 1971.
Barry cut his broadcast teeth at WXLO - 99X, answering the request line. But his obvious talent at engineering, production, and on-air talk had management making a request of their own. He soon joined the professional ranks - and didn't leave New York for nearly two decades. The list of stations that benefited from his expertise include: WXLO-99X, WOR-AM, The RKO Radio Networks, WNBC-AM, and the the CBS Radio-Radio Network.
