WGVU Info

A valued member of the West Michigan community and WGVU, Herta K. “Susan” Oswalt, enjoyed many interests in life from gourmet cooking, to growing herbs & vegetables, to feeding stray cats in the neighborhood. She was born in Vienna, Austria and lost her first husband in WWII. She remarried and ... See more moved to Indiana with her husband Bill and daughter Linda. The family moved to Battle Creek in 1954. Herta had another enjoyment in life, the programming on public television. Bill passed away in 2006 and Herta passed in 2008. Now through her commitment to public television and an extremely generous gift from the Herta Oswalt Trust, WGVU is establishing the Herta Oswalt WGVU Television Culinary Programming Endowment. For years to come, everyone throughout west Michigan will be able to continue enjoying the Culinary Programming on WGVU thanks in great part to the thoughtfulness and generosity of Herta. In keeping with the digital age, WGVU has created another electronic newsletter for your convenience. Newly created, the monthly WGVU Volunteer E-Newsletter is designed to inform and invite WGVU volunteers to opportunities where assistance is needed with WGVU events or activities. It will also spotlight WGVU’s “Volunteer of the Month” and highlight other volunteer events. Interested in volunteering or want more information, check inside this issue of Showplace. Our first electronic newsletter was the WGVU E-Newsletter which gives first alert and highlights to WGVU members for WGVU programs and related events. This is sent bi-weekly to every member who signed up for the service. If you wish to receive this service, visit our website wgvu.org and “click here” on our home page to sign up. Have you checked out the WGVU Blog yet? This revised site will keep you up to date on daily happenings at and around WGVU TV and Radio. You will see what is going on behind the scenes in production; find out what guests visited our studios; what outreach activities are planned; and how you can support WGVU. You can access this site by going to http://wgvutvradio.blogspot.com. WGVU is celebrating Black History Month and Asian Pacific American Heritage this month along with Grand Valley State University and the WGVU Engage Committee. Check this issue of Showplace for listing and times of programs and some community events. This is your last chance to get your tickets for the Great Wine & Food Symposium.
