WIKB AM began its broadcasting career on November 15th 1949. The station was originally in Iron Mountain Michigan - hence the call letters- WIKB stand for Iron Mountain, Kingsford, Breitung Township. The station, at the time, was owned by a group of local businessmen. In January of 1965 WIKB was purchased by Northland Advertising Inc. In the fall of 1981, Northland Advertising added WIKB FM.
