What is the history behind the blue neon sign?
The famous blue neon light that sits in the window of WJMF studios has been there since 1991. Not only is it a symbol of the stations location and on-air time, it's a tribute to the memory of Michael T. Cain. Michael that was tragically killed at the cliff walks in Newport , RI . Michael was the WJMF general manager who oversaw the purchase of the neon sign. The “neon sign project” was completed after his death. An official “sigh lighting” took place with the Cain family present. The blue neon sign will always be a sign that Michael's memory lives on.
What renovations has the station gone through?
During the Winter of 2005/2006 WJMF went through an extensive equipment upgrade. With the addition of two new sound boards from Harris Communications, Mic Processing, Delay System, Remote Broadcast Capabilities, ENCO Automation System and the new Outdoor Speakers. WJMF now broadcasts in Stereo and sounds better then ever. WJMF is Stronger and Better than ever and will benefit the Bryant Community for the years to come.
