WLRC signed on as a 250 watt daytime operation at 850 AM, June 21, 1982 by two Baptist ministers, Ron Mitchell and Larry Dunlap. Shortly thereafter, they received a permit to upgrade their signal strength to 500 watts. On November 18, 1983 Robert and Scottie Clayton bought WLRC from Bro. ... See more Ron and Bro. Larry. Today, 85 ALIVE, WLRC is a 1,000 watt, clear channel station with a 290 foot tower. WLRC's signal reaches to the Mississippi River on the west, into Alabama on the east, north to Jackson, Tennessee and as far south as Tupelo, MS. WLRC was the first radio station in this area to offer full time Christian programming. The station's call letters stand for "Serving the Living, Risen Christ."
