See more It was February 1, 2006 when Absolute Broadcasting brought WSMN back on-the-air. The station’s license to operate was, at the time, in jeopardy of being cancelled and we were happy to step into the picture at the right time, ensuring that Nashua would not lose one of its few local media outlets. Going forward we will remain dedicated to our mission and to bringing you the best possible locally-focused programs. All of us at WSMN are proud of our local history as well as the awards presented to us by the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters (NHAB) in 2006, and we look forward to serving greater Nashua for many more years. WSMN Call Letters WSMN Call LettersPeople often ask what the call letters WSMN stand for. Though some have suggested the name is rooted in “Weather, Sports, Music & News,” a sticker attached to a piece of vintage remote broadcast equipment suggests another answer. Some of us believe the ‘SMN originally stood for the cities served – Salem, Manchester and Nashua – a popular practice in the 1940’s and 50’s.
