We also specialize in Community Projects based at the Coast and all major events in and around the Coast. West Coast FM is the brainchild of Mr. Scharl Moller who, in 2006 identified the need for a radio station at the coast. Swakopmund and Walvisbay had until then been forced to rely on radio stations broadcasting from Windhoek and people at the coast indicated a need for a station they could call their own. Our footprint extends outwards from Swakopmund to include Walvisbay, Arandis and Hentiesbay. Thus includes the whole inhabited central coastal region. We transmit 24 hours a day on 107.7 MHz. At the moment we have live shows from 6am until 8pm, Mondays to Saturdays. Our show formats rely mainly on actuality, sports and entertainment topics with news bulletins at the top of each hour. Our listener target age is from those in their early teen’s right through to those in their sixties. Preliminary projections indicate a listnership of approximately 60 000, these numbers do increase considerably during the holiday periods. West Coast FM is a young, dynamic and fast-growing radio station, and we foresee a not too distant future where the whole coastal region no longer need to tune in to any radio station other than their own!
