I see EL CHAPO got arrested from all this "SMUCK TALK" by satelite here in America... Too much "SNITCHIN" like I said before... I told ya early didnt I?
Mr. Edward D. Drew III/Universal
On Saturday, Mexican authorities arrested Joaquín (El Chapo) Guzmán Loera, who was the leader of the Sinaloa
cartel, a criminal organization responsible for violence and drug trafficking. It’s estimated that the Sinaloa organization moves “as much as thirty or forty per cent of all of the illegal narcotics crossing the border into the United States,” Patrick Radden Keefe says on this week’s Political Scene podcast. Keefe and William Finnegan join host Dorothy Wickenden to discuss what Guzmán’s arrest might mean for U.S. drug policies.
Arresting Guzmán was an inarguably worthwhile goal, but there is concern about how much his absence will affect the organization’s operation. “There are a couple of senior guys in the Sinaloa cartel—one called El Mayo and another one called El Azul—who are still functioning,” Finnegan says.
So what can the U.S. government do? “Ultimately, unless you can figure out a way to curb the rapacious demand in this country, you will see these cycles continue,” Keefe says.
