Hi My name is Bernadette, I have epilepsy having a spleenatomy next week. I am still out there trying to find work. I have recently been dismissed from a personal carer job for not advising them that i have epilepsy, even though i have not had one for a period of time. From my other work place last
year i was highly discriminated for my new illness hypolotic anemia and my epilepsy.
It has been a catch 22 if i telll them that i have that illness they one a mile but if i dont i get the position. Once they find out things change, my hours cut and this has happen in the hospitality. I want to work full time and i was working night shift full time as a personal carer, i did not take any time of, it was on those really hot 45 degree days where i filled sick, doing the time i was working had a series of wite cell transfusions and blood transfusions and did not take any time of work, even the nurses at the out patient clinic were amazed at me.
Centrelink have been supportive of me and with a disabilty employment agency. I would give a million dollars to where i can obtain a pastry apprenticeship i am 37. I am more than happy to sign a form saying that i will not sue them if injured myself whilst having a siezure and that i can work around my hospital app. I can not drive due to the illness but my gp is supporting me on this one. I am in a catch 22 if i dont tell them i recieve the position and i do then i dont. I dont want sympathy for my condition i just want to support others. I dont want to go on the disabiltiy pension but maybe i may have to if no one will employ me.
Thank you everyone my email address email@example.com
