KGPE is a full service television station in Fresno, California, broadcasting on local digital UHF channel 34 and on virtual channel 47. Founded in 1953 as KJEO, it is owned by High Plains Broadcasting, Inc. KGPE is affiliated with CBS, airing CBS's primetime shows in the evening. In the morning,
the station airs CBS's morning news and information program, with spots for local news and weather; in the afternoon, it airs CBS's soap operas; in the early evening, it shows CBS's national news broadcast and local newscasts. After primetime, it airs its own local newscasts, followed by CBS's late-night programming. KGPE also airs local sports broadcasts. KGPE's channel is multiplexed, with two subchannels. Channel 47.1 shows KGPE and CBS programs. Channel 47.2 airs Untamed Sports TV, with outdoor and lifestyle progams. The station used the call sign KJEO from 1953 until 2000. It was broadcast on analog channel 47 from 1953 until 2009. KGPE was an affiliate of ABC from 1953 until 1985.
