KPXE-TV is a full service television station in Kansas City, Missouri, broadcasting on local digital UHF channel 51 and virtual channel 50. Founded in 1969 ... See more as KCIT-TV, it is owned by Ion Media Networks, Inc. It is an affiliate of ION, featuring a broad mix of popular television series, theatrical and made-for-television movies, specials and sports. KPXE's channel has three subchannels, all with ION programming. On 50.1 is ION's basic programming; On 50.2 is qubo, ION's children's television specialty channel, broadcasting in English and Spanish, and on 50.3 is ION Life, airing lifestyle programming during the day, and movies in the evening. KPXE was an independent station from 1969 until 1971 and again from 1978 until 1998, and showed programs from ABC, NBC and CBS from 1969 until 1971. KPXE used the call signs KCIT from 1969 until 1971, KYFC from 1978 until 1997 and KINB from 1997 until 1998, and it was off the air from 1971 until 1978.
