KBAK-TV is a full service television station in Bakersfield, California, broadcasting on local digital UHF channel 33 and on virtual channel 29. Founded in 1953 as KAFY-TV, it is owned by Fisher Communications, Inc. KBAK-TV is affiliated with CBS, airing CBS's primetime shows in the evening. In the morning, the
station airs CBS's morning news and information program, with spots for local news and weather; in the afternoon, it airs CBS's soap operas; in the early evening, it shows CBS's national news broadcast and local newscasts. After primetime, it airs its own local newscasts, followed by CBS's late-night programming. KBAK-TV also airs local sports broadcasts. The station was affiliated with ABC from 1953 until 1974, airing CBS and ABC programs from 1953 until 1959.
