KIRO-TV is a full service television station in Seattle, Washington, broadcasting on local digital UHF channel 39 and on virtual channel 7. Founded in 1958, it is owned by Cox Enterprises, Inc. After primetime, it airs its own local newscasts, followed by CBS's late-night programming. KIRO also airs local sports broadcasts. KIRO's channel is multiplexed, with two subchannels. Channel 7.1 airs KIRO and CBS programs; 7.2 shows Retro TV Network, with classic television series programs. KIRO has been a CBS affiliate for nearly its entire history, except from 1995 until 1997 when it became a UPN channel.
