WVER is a full service television station in Rutland, Vermont, broadcasting on local digital VHF channel 9 and virtual channel 28. Founded in 1968, it is owned by Vermont ETV, Inc. and branded as Vermont ETV. WVER is a member station of PBS (Public Broadcasting Service). In addition to its
PBS programming, WVER airs locally produced programs with information concerning local interest, culture, history and education. WVER is a multiplexed channel, with four subchannels. Vermont ETV and PBS programming in high definition is carried on 28.1; on 28.2 is Vermont ETV and PBS programming in standard definition; Create is carried on 28.3, with how-to programs and information, and on 28.4 is PBS World, featuring news and information. Since its signal reaches as far away as Montreal, Ontario, Canada, VPT takes its large Canadian audience into account in its programming, and it accepts Canadian dollars for its fundraising efforts.
