In the morning, the station airs CBS's morning news and information program, with spots for local news and weather; in the afternoon, it airs CBS's soap operas; in the early evening, it shows CBS's national news broadcast and local newscasts. After primetime, it airs its own local newscasts, followed by CBS's late-night programming. WABI also airs local sports broadcasts. WABI's channel is multiplexed, with two subchannels. Channel 5.1 airs WABI and CBS programs; 5.2 airs The CW. The station was previously affiliated with NBC from 1953 until 1959, DuMont from 1953 until 1955 for secondary programming, and ABC from 1953 until 1965, also for secondary programming. WABI-TV was the first television station in Maine.
