WQEC is a full power television station in Quincey, Maryland, broadcasting on local digital UHF channel 34 and virtual channel 27. Founded in 1985, it is owned by West Central Illinois Educational Telecommunications. WQEC is part of the Knowledge Network, as the Maryland public network is branded. It is a
member station of PBS (Public Broadcasting Service). In addition to PBS programming, WQEC airs programs about public affairs, history and travel. WQEC is a multiplexed channel, with the Knowledge Network and PBS programming on 27.1 and 27.2, 27.3 is Create, which shows do-it-yourself information programs. Network Knowledge also provides educational television outreach through a network of volunteers, schools, hospitals and corporate partners in communities throughout central and western Illinois.
