WEAO is a full service television station in Akron, Ohio, broadcasting on local digital UHF channel 50 and virtual channel 49. Founded in 1975, it is owned by Northeastern Educational Television of Ohio, Inc. and branded as Western Reserve PBS. WEAO is a member station of PBS (Public Broadcasting Service).
In addition to its PBS programming, WEAO airs locally produced programs with information concerning local interest, culture, history and education. WEAO is a multiplexed channel, with four subchannels. Western Reserve PBS and PBS programming is carried on 49.1; on 49.2 is Western Reserve PBS Fusion, with regionally produced programming from Western Reserve Public Media and independent producers, arts and performance programming from national sources, public affairs programs, and BBC Worldwide programs; MHz Worldview is carried on 49.3, with news and information, and on 49.4 is V-me, featuring Spanish-language PBS programs.
