OUR HISTORY In the first quarter of 2003, Fargo-Moorhead market research discovered an opportunity for a new radio station that played all the classics from the 60’s and 70’s. At the end of March, 106.9 transformed into “Beatles 106.9”, and for one week only played songs by The Beatles. Then ... See more during the start of April, the new Eagle 106.9 was unveiled. The station was launched using the Chris Elliott music and systems. Those systems and music---updated for 2008---are still the backbone of the station. RATINGS PERFORMANCE Beginning with that first Arbitron rating survey in the spring of 2003, The Eagle 106.9 jumped into the top five rankings among adults 25 – 54. We haven’t gone anywhere since. For the past five years, The Eagle 106.9 has remained a top tier station in Fargo-Moorhead, with especially strong results among women. In the fall of 2007, The Eagle 106.9 achieved its best ratings yet, with another strong finish. The Eagle 106.9 is one of the big stations. OUR BRAND The Eagle grew quickly, and remains a top station because of a variety of different factors. First of all, we established a unique brand identity as “The Eagle”. We offered a large segment of the audience a strong list of classics that are fun to listen to and sing along with, bringing back great memories that pick you up whenever you listen. Plus, The Eagle plays tons of music back-to-back. When the station started, it rolled 15,000 songs in a row to give people a free sample of the music. Still today, The Eagle 106.9 is known for playing the most music on the radio, specializing in our 40 in a row format (that’s 40 minutes of back-to-back music every hour!). Then we add to the fun with companions that are real people, providing high interest information and entertaining promotions that add to the fun. One of the strengths of The Eagle is that it was the first station to play all the mainstream classics from the 60’s and 70’s. We are an original---just like the Ipod from Apple is almost a generic name for a digital music device, or Kleenex is synonymous with facial tissue, The Eagle is the authentic version of this format. This combination of unique original radio programming presented with consistent quality over our long successful history has allowed The Eagle to build brand loyalty with many people.
