Known as “The Golden Corner’s Radio Station, “ 96.3 WGOG provides primary signal service to 181,966 persons in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. WGOG is the only full power community FM radio station in Oconee County. In addition to mainstream Country music, WGOG maintains a full-time awarding winning local news department anchored by Oconee County’s dean of news reporters, Dick Mangrum. Hourly community information features, listener interaction and a staff involved in the communities it serves; 96.3 WGOG is the Golden Corner’s Radio Station. Programming 96.3 WGOG’s format is first and foremost focused on the local area. The music is Country with a traditional slant. From 6 a.m. until 10 a.m., WGOG airs the Golden Corner’s Morning Show which has been a listening tradition in the area since WGOG began operations with an AM signal in 1959. The program is the “community voice” for this prosperous area of South Carolina. While this unique community service format is unlike any other station in the local area, it’s carefully researched to appeal to the largest segment of population in the WGOG coverage area. Coverage Area The 96.3 WGOG(FM) transmitter and 500 foot tall tower are located on a high ridge near Tamassee, South Carolina. The site was chosen for its high elevation of 1500 feet above sea level; some 500 feet higher than the primary cities in WGOG’s service area-Walhalla, Seneca, Westminster and Clemson. This location provides an extra boost to the WGOG signal across the Golden Corner. The station’s 6,000-watt crystal-clear FM stereo signal operates at full power 24 hours daily.
