WZTK (101.1 FM) is a News/Talk radio station in Burlington, North Carolina. It serves the Triad and Triangle areas, which includes cities such as Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Raleigh, Durham, and Fayetteville. In addition the signal goes well north of Danville, Virginia. The outlet, which is owned by Curtis Media Group, claims ... See more to have the largest FM radio signal in all of North Carolina, operating with an ERP of 100kw. The reason for that FM radio signal claim comes from Curtis Media, due to the population covered by the station's signal. The transmitter is located on Bass Mountain in the Cane Creek Mountains in Alamance County. WBBB-FM signed on at 101.3 in the late 1940s as a sister station to WBBB in Burlington, North Carolina. After moving to 101.1, the station became easy listening WNCB. Starting in 1978, WPCM was "Country 101" radio station.[1] During the 1990s, the station paired up with WKIX in Goldsboro, North Carolina and targeted listeners in the Raleigh market. [2]At one point, the call letters were changed to WKXU. For a time, this station played classic country. WZTK morphed into its current news/talk incarnation on July 6, 2004. The first live voices heard on the "new" station were those of Brad Krantz and Britt Whitmire, who are still in place. Previously, the station had been a country music station, calling itself Kix 101.1. WZTK's sister AM station WPCM (920 kilohertz), previously known as WBBB, simulcasted the FM's talk programming until the summer of 2005, when it went back to its previous beach/oldies format.

Left for the Military and this station was one of the best I've listened to since moving from NYC to this area. I come back and now it's garbage.

I have to agree. Brad and Britt are interrupted by far too many traffic reports, news and weather at WBT. They had such great guests when they were on ZTK. Very thought provoking shows.

Yes after all this time, I still miss this station. The '"Rush" 94.5 is a sad replacement for a talk radio station as compared to the old ZTK. I hope the bottom drops out of your earnings from advertisers. I know your previous audience and their buying power compared to your current audience. Yo see more... u sold out to something else!

I can call names. Don Curtis is garbage. That's what it all comes down to. He sold a loyal audience down the drain. Somewhere in the mix He is going to make more MONEY. As if he is starving to death. Yes, he is starving. But starving from GREED. Have a taco on me Don. Why don't you go hang see more... out down by the Alamo sometime.

I used to like the Saturday 9AM and 10AM financial shows. Can anyone remember the names of the folks who did the show? There was wanda and ?, and then a good trading show. Like everyine else, I did not write the names down becuase who knew the show would end?

About 6 months ago or less, I caught an interesting segment of a show about Homeschoolng .Several of the callers that called during the show were adult children that had been homeschooled and not 100% on board like most parents want everyone to think. anyone that can remember this , and point me see more... in the direction of the segment . I would love it for research info ! Thanks

Why would management think everyone this station reaches in NC would want a Spanish station?? Why take such a far-reaching signal for the change? I don't think a lot of people in Pinehurst want to listen to a Spanish station! Certainly will never listen to the station again. I would also suppose see more... they lost all their advertisers, too, as they were geared to the talk show audiences.

WHAT IN THE WORLD is going on here??? Where did the station go? What a CROCK OF CRAP!!!! What kinda idiotic nonsense type of reasoning brought this on? Wow...... it is all I can say...... wow. The world truly is going to Hell in a handbasket. I am only giving this one star because it will not let you give a zero, because that is what the idiots behind this rate in my book... a ZERO

This station is now not even worth having on my presets. What once was one of the best stations in the area has now going to be the WORST. I will make a habit of telling my friends NOT to listen to this junk.

BORINNNNNNG! Listened to the talk station all the time. Miss Clark Howard and Alan Handleman shows. The advertising led me to purchase products and visit events that were spoken about. New format is just dull and no different from the other stations that play that genre. You went from being innovative to ho hum! Get with the program people!
