See more M was added in July 1974 at 3,000 watts. WHLP-AM increased it's wattage from 1,000 to 5,000 watts in May 1980. The call signs were modified to WNKX AM/FM in August 1991. WNKX-FM increased power to 6,000 watts in 1996. WNKX AM/FM Radio Stations were purchased by Steve and Wanda Turner in 1997 as Hickman County Broadcasting Company, Inc. Steve Turner continues to own and manage the stations.
