Will appreciate if you could please air irresponsible action( could be termed corrupt) act by private contractor of Mumbai Metro. The incident happened at the site on W.E.Highway near to Thakrey Trauma center and NESCO, Jogeshwari E around 8AM Dt 4th Nov 2018 . The contractor team started Jack Ham see more... mer and other construction machinery without barricading while a middle aged lady on crutches was moving on the road. When the lady stopped none of the crew members bothered to caution her or stop the work. Hence I asked the crew who was the supervisor. The operator of construction equipment indicated to his colleague. I asked the supervisor to notify the safety supervisor and also questioned how are the starting work without taking safety precaution . The supervisor that sfatey officer is not around ( probably he contracting company is cutting cost and does not have adequate safety officers to monitor the site). Further I asked if the operator of heavy construction equipment has the required license or not ? Supervisoe informed me 'Agar hoga to office me hoga ? I suspect un qualified are employed for the reason of cost cutting and public safety is not attended. Certainly adequate publkic safet MUST be a contractual obligation for projects of such nature. The issue is blaming just the government officials for corruption and ineffeciency is not going to help us contractors are equally responsible for such unprofessional cost cutting risking of common citizens . I waited at the site for quite some time hoping that the crew would call in their superiors and report that some people are raising such issues. No body turned up , hence I have a reason to beleive that the contractor company must have put it in KRA of supervisor to blatantly ignore such issues and give their best productivity if they want to retain job. Also any certificate indicating the fitness of use of these heavy construction equipment for public safety, worker safety, environment protection etc was not displayed on the equipment used at this site. I sincerely hope you radio will air this incidence and the issue atleast in public interest if not as an complaint. SR Tambe (9920384615).
