About Dr. Scudder
Over thirty-eight years of faithful ministry
Steady growth in both church and schools led to the purchase of 40 acres 8 miles north of Palatine in Lake Zurich, Illinois. Miraculously, the property was on the same road as in Palatine—Quentin Road, thus the name remained the same. A 24,000 sq-ft multi-purpose building was built on this site, entirely by the congregation of Quentin Road Bible Baptist Church. It was here, one year later, that Dr. Scudder’s dream of reaching the community became a reality. Quentin Road Christian Preschool was launched. Many single parents and two-income families enrolled their children in the preschool. Featuring quality education, innovative training, and fun programs, this ministry became an instant success., Today, this preschool is the largest in the country, boasting 1,600 children per year.
In 1992 Dr. Scudder realized his vision of reaching beyond the Chicagoland area with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. On May 16th, the Quentin Road Bible Hour was launched. Dr. Scudder featured his trademark verse-by-verse preaching and every week gave the wallet illustration, keeping the Gospel simple. Hundreds of searching men and women began to call each week and volunteer operators pointed them to assurance of their salvation.
Soon Quentin Road began publication of their popular devotional magazine. Originally called Quentin Road Bible Hour Magazine, it later changed names to Partners Magazine before it finally was titled Victory In Grace. One constant has been its compelling content, stories of redemption and hope through Christ, and challenging articles by Dr. Scudder. Many readers enjoy the daily devotionals. Victory In Grace Magazine was produced entirely in-house on a four-color press.
In 1997, Victory In Grace aired its first radio broadcast. Across the country, listeners now had the opportunity to tune into the dynamic preaching of Dr. James Scudder. Victory In Grace continues to expand its presence into many major U.S. markets.
Once again, what once was a tiny storefront church outgrew its building and more facilities were needed. Again, the church members chipped in, building a 40,000 square foot addition to the present facilities, including a beautiful 3,000 foot auditorium, a swimming pool for the preschool and elementary children, a barn with horses, new television and radio studios and eating areas for the growing staff and schools.
In 2003, Quentin Road Ministries officially became Victory In Grace Ministries, better reflecting our mission—to point people to victory in life through God’s abundant grace.
Today, Victory In Grace Ministries continues to reach souls for the Kingdom around the world. Whether it’s through a radio or television broadcast in the United States, an orphanage and child-care facility in India, literature in the dark of prisons, we’re doing our best to fulfill God’s call to share His love with the world.

A Christ-Centered Church…A Person, Jesus Christ, not a program, is foremost. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. (Acts 16:31)
A Bible Believing Church…We stand for the historic fundamentals of Biblical Christianity. We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life.
An Independent Church…We are self-governing and therefore have no synod, conference, presbytery or other form of human organization exercising control over the local congregration.
An Evangelistic Church…We maintain a steadily expanding program of missions, seeking to bring all to the Savior.
A Fellowshipping Church…Christian love, harmony and unity are found in all of our activities.
