Whether it's Morning Edition or PBS NewsHour, Oregon Art Beat or Oregon Field Guide, Sesame Street, The Cat in the Hat or Dinosaur Train, public broadcasting is there for you, your family and your community every day.
Yet the federal funding that's so important to our mission is now at risk. In the coming weeks, attempts will likely be made to eliminate the federal funds that help support this vital service and ensure that everyone has access.
Even though federal funding is less than 10 percent of OPB's budget (and amounts to just $1.35 per person per year), these funds are critical to the work that OPB does — and critical in our ability to connect people across the region in common understanding. These funds help support the vast network which makes it possible for Oregonians in communities large and small to access OPB's programs and services. In many rural areas, OPB is the only television service available for free and OPB's radio stations provide the only news that ties together the region.
As a supporter of OPB, you believe that public broadcasting is a worthy investment. Sign up to be a part of 170 Million Americans for Public Broadcasting to stay informed about developments in Washington and to find out when and how to contact your elected representatives.
Your voice matters now. Stand up with millions of others who care, to protect the service you love. Get involved at 170millionamericans.org.
