Recent improvements have included an increase of capacity to enable more simultaneous listeners to listen on-line.South East Radio's studio and office complex is based in Wexford Town. Overlooking the town’s historic main Quay they are based in a 19th century Georgian style building, formerly a branch of the National bank. There are 4 studios on the top floor comprising: A main "On-Air" studio Commercial production Studio News Studio "Talk" studio The station’s "ON-AIR STUDIO ONE" is designed "self-op" style and after a re-fit during 2000 is equipped with the following equipment: 1 x Alice AIR 2000 Mixing Console 2 x Denon broadcast CD players 2 x Sony Professional Minidisc machines EV RE20 presenter mics Full air conditioning The station was Ireland’s first to equip with a fully integrated digital audio play-out system for commercials, jingles and programme items. Since early 2002 most of the music we play also now comes direct from computers which store an ever-growing library of over 7000 tracks. In the station’s recording studio, sounds are edited on screens and "layers" of sound can be built up for complex recordings. "Magnetic" (or analogue) recordings are rarely seen in South East Radio as all recordings are stored as files on a network of PC’s that link all the studios and offices. An Irish company, "Radiomation", tailored and developed their system for South East Radio in 1994 which is when we scrapped most of our old analogue play-out machinery. The system has since been adopted by the majority of Irish independent radio stations. It is also now widely used in Britain, both in commercial and BBC stations, and in commercial stations around the world. South East Radio’s audio is routed through an impressive chain of audio processing equipment before going to the transmitters. Different units process, widen the stereo, and add the RDS encoding (here too South East Radio was an innovator by being Ireland’s first independent station to transmit RDS). A 'link' transmitter sends the signal to the station’s main transmitter on top of Mount Leinster on the County Carlow/Wexford border. From there the signal also feeds five smaller transmitters serving specific parts of the main coverage area. Stations History South East Radio broadcasts on 4 frequencies to the County Wexford area from studios in Wexford Town. The links here take you to pages describing the stations state-of-the-art facilities, frequency listings and technical details. The map (right) shows our primary coverage area. But, in certain conditions, we are occasionally heard as far afield as the UK, Scandinavia and Central Europe. Hobby listeners abroad who submit reception reports receive 'QSL' verification letters. Our main transmissions on 95.6FM come from Mount Leinster, which is situated in the North West of County Wexford (close to Bunclody on the map). South East Radio is constantly striving to be at the forefront of technological advances (it was the first Irish station to utilise solely digital audio studio systems and was the first independent station in Ireland to broadcast RDS transmissions). We were also one of the early stations "streaming" audio on the internet. Future developments are likely to include digital audio broadcasting, which is being assessed by the station. ------ Shows: The Irish Hour, A Little Light Music, Afternoon Show, Breaking Ground, Faith Seeking Understanding, GAA Programme, Luvzone, Midweek Voices, Morning Magazine, Music from the 80's to today, Paddy Ryan, Rock Monsters, Saturday Show, Simply Divine, Sounds For Sunday, South East Radio's BIG BIG Show, South East Radio's Classic Gold, South East Radio's Cool Country, South East Radio's Country & Irish Show, South East Radio's Full Irish Breakfast, South East Radio's Niteflite, South East Radio's Power FM, South East Radio's Saturday Breakfast, South East Radio's Sports Hour, South East Radio's Sunday Celebration, South East Radio's Teatime, Sunday Breakfast, Tony Breen, Traditional music ----- Hosts: Pat Murphy, Dan Walsh, Paddy Ryan, Tony Kehoe, Maria Colfer, Cecil Riddall, Brendan Walsh, Tony Scott, Lee Hynes, Alan Corcoran, David Roche, Tony Breen
