Fox 4 (general), KBTV is a full service television station broadcasting to Port Arthur/Beaumont, Texas on local digital UHF channel 40. It is an affiliate ... See more of Fox. KBTV signed on the air in 1957 under the call sign KPAC-TV as an National Broadcasting Company affiliate jointly owned by Port Arthur College and the Jefferson Amusement Company. It was the first station in the area to use color, broadcast local football games and use video tape. KJAC changed hands several times over the next six decades, fist to Clay Communications in 1973, than Price Communications in 1987, U.S. Broadcast Group 1995. Nexstar Broadcasting purchased KJAC from U.S. Broadcast Group in 1998, changing it's call sign to the current KBTV a year later. In 2009 KBTV dropped its 51 year old contract with NBC and joined Fox, it's current owners citing that they wanted increase KBTV's news output.
