As well as local programming and news, WNCR is an affiliate of the America One Television Network, with primarily international sports programming in prime time, reruns and syndicated programming. The station started broadcasting as transmitter relay 940414EU in 1995, changing to W38CI and W20BV in 1999, then becoming an low-power station in 1999 with the call sign WACW-LP. Founder Ray H. Livesay began operations in 2001 and included the only local, regularly broadcast newscast for the Wilson, Nash and Edgecombe county areas of Eastern North Carolina, changing the call sign to WNCR-LP in 2002 until the current call sign change in 2009.
