Bamberg County hospital is in South Carolina and not Iowa. It seems this is not the right picture when doing a report on Iowa rural hospitals.
Also the content of the report seems to overlook the appropriateness of care at Community Hospitals----critical burns should be taken to the tertiary hospitals and not stop at the local hospitals----thus the EMS system seems to be more of the concern. With a well prepared EMS system, staffed with Paramedics, the emergency services would be getting patients directly to the tertiary care. It is a waste of time and money to stop at rural hospitals with heart attacks, burns and critical traumas. Also EMS helicoptors will land "on-stie".
